Since the Tuna-Dolphin cases in the mid-´90s, the treatment of process and production methods (PPMs) under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and subsequently the World Trade Organization (WTO), has remained a high profile concern for advocates of sustainable development. And although the relationship between PPMs and the WTO has received unprecedented attention by policy-makers and NGOs alike over the last decade, perceptions on the state of WTO law with respect to PPMs are anything but consistent.
